- student: hey government can I have some money to go to university
- uk government: sure here you go. you'll have to pay it back but only when you're earning £21,000+ a year, and if you don't pay it off after 30 years we'll just write it off, don't worry about it man
- scottish government: nah man just go to uni we ain't gonna charge you
- us government: no. you gotta pay it yourself. upfront. your parents have to save up from the moment you're born. good luck, fucker.
10/11 paralells: murder+genocide
Remember when genocide and killing were things that the Doctor frowned upon, and would only do with a heavy heart? Remember when the Doctor tried to talk the villains into doing the right thing? Remember when the doctor had morals?
£500 says that Moffat never watched The Doctor’s Daughter. Oh but wait, he did request that they re-write the ending for Jenny to come back to life, in order for him to do fuck all with the character. But in retrospect, that’s probably a good thing.
This!!!! This id why I do not like Eleven! Nine would get so fucking angry about genocide. Ten destroyed the career of a friend because she fired on aliens that had surrendered. But Eleven destroyed the Universe. For Amy. For someone we know hardly anything about.
And Jenny. She is probably the biggest mystery of the revamped series. Do people not realize there is a kind of Time Lord runnig around the Universe?! Where does she go? What does she do? Does she regenerate like a Time Lord? Does she keep the same form? What the fuck?!
And why does Moffat have so much trouble killing people?! He needs to sit down with George RR Martin for “writing quality women for mysoginists” and “how to kill a character in two easy steps.” (Hint:the steps are “kill the character” “leave them dead”)
THEN SUGGEST YOUR OWN FUCKING DECISION HOW TO STOP THE SILENTS
IM ALL EARS
Why did they need to be stopped? What evil thing were they doing? It’s not like they were actively murdering members of the Human race. As far as we know, they only ever killed one person.
immortal-axolotl oh i don’t know the Doctor seems to have a big favor with the Pope why doesn’t he just get her to deal with the rebel Silence?
it’s not the first time he was going to do that. Take a murderous/dangerous creature to it’s own planet to be judged by its own Laws instead of murdering a it.
there were options.
Okay but, forgive me if I’m wrong because I’ve been so disinterested in Moffat’s Who it’s been a struggle for me to keep up with “main plotline” type things—
but weren’t the Silent just trying to protect themselves? Wasn’t their huge plan to subtly influence humanity to eventually lead to the Doctor’s death a massive plot for them not to get sucked into the Time War or something?
Next up, don’t forget that the Master literally murdered 10% of Earth’s population (approx 600,000,000 people at “Utopia”s airing btw) and was more than willing to keep watch over him.
Or even Davros! - in Journey’s End the Doctor tries to save Davros even though- should the plan had been successful- they would’ve killed everything in every universe.
Or, hell, Planet of the Dead. Massive swarms of aliens that consume entire planets, but does the Doctor kill them? Noooo, he reroutes them to uninhabited planets.
Fuck you Allegiant. Fuck that ending. I left the last 50 pages for about 2 months because I knew something bad would happen and I just finished it tonight. I took that book into my living room where my dad was and threw it against the farthest wall and stomped off balling my eyes out. I’m too emotional.
